To all students in 7/8 Chorus,The chorus students have worked very hard this fall preparing for the Green Mountain auditions and our winter concert. We would love to recognize their hard work and dedication by offering them an opportunity to see a matinee performance of the new Broadway musical Spiderman – Turn off the Dark on Wednesday, March 17th, in New York City.I apologize in advance for the extreme expense of this trip.
Also, the price of lunch is exorbitant, but it is NYC, and we’ll be entertained while we eat.
Price includes:
o The bus ride on a Premiere Coach Bus ($54.00)
o A tip for the driver ($3.00)
o Theatre tickets at the Hilton Theater ($48.00)
o Broadway Classroom, a PRIVATE (MEMS ONLY) 90 minute workshop ($26)Stage Combat:
This workshop gets students on their feet to learn the secrets of simulated combat. Trained professionals take your students behind the scenes to discover how fights and combat are choreographed on stage. In this thrilling workshop, safety and collaboration are the focus of the session. Participants actively enjoy simulated combat during the entire class and safely walk away learning some valuable techniques.o Lunch at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, with singing waiters and waitresses {This price includes tax and gratuity} ($approx 27) The total cost is approximately $158 per person.In addition, we will need to bring a bag dinner or bring our own money for dinner on the way home at a highway rest stop.
There will be 49 student seats and 6 chaperone seats. The student seats will be sold on a first come, first serve basis offered to 8th graders first and then 7th graders. MEMS teachers will fill the chaperone seats. Approx. 60 students are being invited to attend.Deposits of $50.00(check made out to MEMS) and signed permission slips are due:
8th Graders - Wednesday, December 2nd
7th Graders - Friday, December 4th(2nd payment of $50 will be due on Jan. 25, 2010 and the balance of $58 is due on Feb 22, 2010.After December 4, any available tickets will be offered to students in Jazz Band.This might be an opportunity for a holiday gift or a way for your children to do some helpful chores around the house over the break to earn their ticket. to attend a Combat Stage Workshop at a rehearsal studio (TBD) in NYC, then walk to Ellen’s Stardust Diner (51st and Broadway) for lunch and then walk to the Hilton Theater(W42nd between 7th & 8th) for a matinee performance of “Spiderman the Musical”.
The chartered bus will leave MEMS at 5:00 am and return at approximately 10:30 pm. The date for the trip is Wed, March 17, 2010.
